Shelly runs her first Half Marathon

For Mother's day this year Shelly got a unique gift. Brian registered her to run the Hobble Creek half Marathon. Though he thought he was doing something ingenious and awesome, it turns out that he heaped a lot of stress and pressure on Shelly. Next year he is promising to get chocolate. To complicate things even more, Shelly had had surgery just two weeks before the race and had to run with a brace.
Her goal was to run it in 2 hours and 30 minutes but she decided that she would accept anything under three hours. Anyone that knows Shelly knows that she gives everything her all. When she crossed the finish line of her very first Half Marathon the clock said 2 hours and 19 minutes.
The reward for finishing? A t-shirt. Unlike other races where you get your shirt before, only finishers get one here.
Here she is about 10 minutes after the race posing for a picture. I can't believe that she has a smile on her face. Everyone, including Shelly, expected a sore morning the following day. However, she was just fine. Her family is so proud of her! Way to go Shelly!
