Hallie found this whole bird egg out in our garden. Pretty cool that is was uncracked. After tirelessly convincing to her that a bird was not going to hatch, she decided that it would be an awesome show and tell.
Painstakingly, she wrapped it in a small blanket and put it in a bag in her backpack. Satisfied that it would be safe for the bike ride to school, she went to sleep.
The next morning brought great joy and excitement! She was going to have the coolest object at school! Everyone was going to love it and be totally jealous!
After school, I found Hallie feeling quite low. She explained that it had been the worst day of her life. Concerned, I told her to tell me all about her day. She enlightened me by telling me that..."when I got to school, all I had was eggnog!"
Darn it! It really would have been a cool thing to show off and be the most popular kid at school for a day. We still love you Hal!
